Military Help. FAA Private License Vs. Commercial Pilots License .?

I'm interested in the military and I was wondering if getting my private or commercial pilots license might help me get into the Warrant Officer Flight Training program. I know that you have to have good references to be an Rotary WIng pilot but I want to be a pilot really bad. I want to get ahead so that I have more of a chance of getting this opportunity. I've dreamed of being a pilot and I will be a pilot. But I wanted to know if getting your FAA Private license or Commercial Pilots license might help me. Which license would get me to where I am?
